Teen's Bedroom Makeover Using Removable Wallpaper By Tempaper

Teen's Bedroom Makeover Using Removable Wallpaper By Tempaper

This bedroom makeover was for an energetic & fun 10 year old girl named Kennedy. I decided to do an accent wall that would reflect her personality. Instead of doing an accent wall with paint, I chose to be a little different and try out a product called Tempaper. Tempaper is a self-adhesive, temporary, repositionable wallpaper. I wanted a funky design that would contrast Behr's "Fresia Purple" wall paint color. Tempaper has tons of awesome designs, but after narrowing the options down to a few pics, the client chose the "Honeycomb Citron" design. before7 before1 before8 before9 Now here's where the problem begins...This "self-adhesive, temporary, repositionable" wallpaper is supposed to be super easy to work with BUT it is NOT!!!! Don't get me wrong, its an awesome product, but it just takes a whole lotta patience that I just don't have! :( photo For some reason each piece was super easy to put on the wall but as I continued to smooth it out towards the bottom of the wall, the paper would start to shift and crinkle up. I just could not for the life of me figure out what the issue was. I WANTED TO SCREAM!!!!! UUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!  It's a good thing that if you mess up, you can simply pull the paper off and start over again. But please keep in mind that if you smooth it out too much in a certain direction, the paper with stretch out of shape and distort the design a bit. This particular design has a repetitive pattern that has to be matched up. Honestly after about an hour of banging my head up against the wall...I just said "screw it" and I abandoned that step. I was so frustrated I just wanted to get the wallpaper up so I could be finished and call it a day! So, with that being said, the wallpaper is up and I can finally relax...BUT some of the lines don't match up. It still looks good though and my client is satisfied and that's all that really matters! :) photo (2)

So, overall Tempaper is a decent product. I would probably use it again, but next time I will hire someone else to install it!!!! AND, I will never get the repetitive pattern again. It's a pain in the butt.

I really like the make over and the great suggestions that the Riles designer made throughout the course of the project. Great finished product! Congrats to Kennedy on her new big girl room.
