Alternative Uses For An Ikea Kitchen Island: Crafting Desk

PINTEREST - kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles I needed to find a work desk for my craft room / home office. I really did not want a regular ol' office desk, so shopping for something at an office store was out of the question. A few key things that I needed to consider were: - Height: I wanted the crafting / work desk to be somewhat tall, at least counter-height so that I could sit up high. Mainly, I just don't want to have to bend over to far to reach the table if I am standing. Since I sometimes like to work on projects while standing up, the counter-height will provide much comfort and make it easier for me to do that...and won't bother my back as much. - Size: The room isn't that big (maybe 10x11) so I couldn't have a huge desk taking up all of my space. Plus I definitely want to put the desk in the middle of the room, which also meant that it could be too small either because then it wouldn't look right. - Color: Since my wall color is teal, I wanted any furniture to be neutral. One day while browsing around the kitchen section in IKEA, I saw this freestanding kitchen island and I thought "oh this is NICE, I wish I had room for this in my kitchen." Then I walked away disappointed that my kitchen is so freakin' small! :( »»»»SUBSCRIBE TO MY BLOG«««« [mc4wp_form] Anyhoo, I was overwhelmed with the feeling that I NEEDED this kitchen island in my life and it occurred to me that, "dang...it is thee perfect size + the perfect height." It has a space on one side for my chair / stool and on the opposite side are 2 shelves for storage. That's when I said, "screw it, this is gonna be my new crafting desk". I initially went to IKEA for a bookshelf, and I somehow ended up leaving with a kitchen island. I was so excited about my new work desk, that I actually FORGOT to get the bookshelf. SMH. This desk is great. I can do everything on it. I even sometimes iron my fabric on it. 2 kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles 1 kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles 2 kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles 9 kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles 3 kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles 4 kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles 10 kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles 5 kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles 6 kitchen island as craft desk on astralriles If you haven't done so yet, please subscribe to my blog + share with your friends! :) [mc4wp_form] S/N: if you're in the mood to purchase some one-of-a kind handmade home decor...here is a link to my Etsy Shop:
