Repurposed Telephone TableApr 10, 2013
I came across this vintage telephone table at the Thrift store for $5. It actually sat in my garage for a long time because I didn't know what I wanted to do with it. A friend of mine needed some extra seating in her nursery, so I decided to turn it into an ottoman. This was a super easy DIY project. First, I had to remove the top part so that there was a flat surface to work with. I had to lightly sand the wood to remove the glossy finish. If you don't remove all gloss from the surface then the paint won't stick. I used Rustoleum's Sun Gloss to spray paint the wooden base. Next, I added 1" foam to create cushion for the seat. I used some spray fabric adhesive to glue the foam to the wood. Finally, I cut out my fabric and placed it on top of the foam. Then I stapled the fabric underneath all edges and trimmed off the excess.
