Hodge-Podge to Contemporary Kitchen RenovationFeb 27, 2013
"Whoa!" ... was my reaction when I 1st laid eyes on this kitchen. It was a hodge-podge of old white antiqish-looking cabinets paired with not-so-hot oak cabinets. It was obvious that the oak cabinets were replacements at some point and whomever did the work didn't care about matching them to the existing cabinets. SMH This kitchen redesign required a total gut job! I even had to come up with a totally new layout for the cabinets and appliances. The new design called for brand new (stock) dark-stained cabinets from Hobo's. The rest of the design encompassed granite counter-tops, granite/glass tile back-splash, ceramic floor tiles and stainless steel appliances. Tip: Btw, "In-Stock" cabinets (off of the shelf) are waaaaaayyyyyyyy cheaper than having custom cabinets installed. If you are about to renovate your kitchen anytime soon, try waiting around for a good sale. Several times per year The Home Depot and Hobo offer a 20% off sale on in-stock cabinets. if you don't mind waiting around for it and/or planning your renovation around the sale dates, this is an awesome deal and can save you a lot of $$$$!!!!
