Dark Basement Room Transformed To Bright & Fun Craft RoomJul 29, 2014
This basement suffered from water damage. The bottom part of the drywall needed to be cut out to remove mold. The plan for this makeover project was to create a craft room / work space. There is very little natural light that comes into this basement, so the room had to feel bright and airy. I wanted the space to be fun, but not feel like a kids playroom. After the drywall repair. Out of all the colors that I had on my list, lavender is the one that kept jumping to the front of my mind. That little voice in my head was saying "Pick Me"..."Pick Me..."Pick Me PLEASE"!!! So, I had to listen to it! LOL. Yellow is used as an accent color to the lovely lavender walls. I even painted the ceiling a lighter shade of lavender so that the ceilings would feel a bit taller. There is now plenty of storage, in addition to 2 separate workspaces: a desk area and an additional desk for sewing. In order to give this plain Ikea bookcase and extra pop of color, I added fabric to the inside lining of the bookcase. I also made a DIY functional wall art / pin board using carpet tiles samples. It works just like a cork board, except it's way more fun! So what do you think of this makeover? Was I successful in making this room look fun & bright? If I never mentioned that this room was in the basement...would you still be able to tell?
